The Challenge

The main goal was to simplify traveling across Bratislava by replacing the outdated ticketing system with a modern, fast solution. The biggest challenge was to design a unified digital ecosystem that works seamlessly on two very different types of hardware:

  1. Onboard Validators: Touchscreens inside every bus, tram, and trolleybus.

  2. Stationary Kiosks: Ticket vending machines located at bus stops.

  3. Instant Usability: The system needed to be intuitive enough for anyone to use without registration, speeding up the boarding process.

As the Lead Designer, we created a consistent user experience that connects the digital interface with physical advertising.

  • Smart Interface: Designed a "One-Tap" system where the standard 30-minute ticket (€1.09) is bought instantly. For more flexibility, I added a clear menu for 60-minute, 24-hour, and discounted tickets (students/seniors).

  • Safety Net: The design visually communicates the "Daily Cap" feature (€4.85), assuring users they will never overpay.

  • 360° Campaign: Developed the visual identity for an extensive Online and Offline campaign. This campaign is currently active and continuously runs on social media, vehicle wraps, and citylights to promote the system and educate new passengers.

The Result

Since its launch in June 2025, "TAPNI SA" has become a massive success and is currently live across the entire Bratislava transport network.

  • 🚀 2.7x Growth: Electronic ticket sales increased by 270% compared to the previous year.

  • 🎫 1.46 Million Tickets: Sold in just the first 7 months (June – Dec 2025).

  • High Adoption: The combination of a simple UI and a strong marketing campaign led to immediate user trust and adoption.

  • 🚀 Immediate Adoption: Over 4,500 transactions recorded on Day 1.

  • 💰 User Savings: Passengers save up to €0.55 per day compared to paper tickets.
